Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
